Prof Zebulon No E04
G) Evangelism
This is oftentimes misunderstood by
believers. Some think that evangelism
is only by
a) Door to door canvassing or b)
Personal contact or c) Playing music in parks or d) Crusades in stadiums or e) on street corners
or f) waiting for the unsaved to come to the churches by putting on special
programs or g) pick children up in buses for Sunday School or h) Television or
radio and the list goes on.
You know, all these ways are good but
the most important thing that a Christian must do is to make sure that he or
she is actively practising one of them with the Lord's blessing. In heaven, it will be too late. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 2:6: "now is the time of God's favour, now
is the day of salvation".
Evangelism is not an option it is our
raison d'être.
I) Eschatology (Introduction)
There is a difference between Bible
Prophesy and Bible Eschatology. Prophesy
speaks of what is to come in the future (Ex: Isaiah 53 predicts the birth of
Christ), whereas eschatology is about events in the End Times. There are differing viewpoints in these
matters and we will, Lord willing look at all of them. However, we will follow certain ground rules.
They are: 1) Prof Zebulon is a pre-millennialist 2) He will give, what he thinks, is a just
and unbiased definition of each differing point of view 3) The event that will
usher in the End Times is the rapture of the Church as described in 1
Thessalonians 4: 13-17 that is, for us, still future: "For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the
Lord". The Bible gives us many
indications of what will transpire after this.
J) Doctrine (Introduction)
Doctrine is another term that Christians
struggle with. Why? Because there are different
viewpoints in these matters also.
One thing is certain though: God did not want us to be divided
concerning doctrine; He wanted us to be one as He was one with His Son. (John17: 18-21). Another thing is certain: if God wants us to
be one, guess what Satan wants us to be. The Bible is not a book of doctrine
but it contains doctrine. Mankind
(Christians) thought up doctrine and mankind disagree with each other on several
subjects. At least they are agreeable on
one subject and that is: Jesus Christ came on this earth and died on a cross
for our sins.
