The Church was
appointed by Jesus Christ to spread the good news of the Gospel to all of
creation “Go ye into all
the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Marc 16:15.
It’s a heavenly-appointed mandate that we, as Christians, ought to take
very seriously. In the Bible, the Lord
does not really give us a specific method of how to actually speak to the
people we encounter; He leaves that up to the Holy Spirit who indwells all true
believers. When we see a person,
especially one of our contacts, who has been redeemed by the blood of
Jesus we couldn’t be happier for there is no greater joy for a Christian than
to see another person become a child of God.
From that point on, this person has no idea of what he or she gotten in
to; all they know is that they have this inner peace which came upon them at
the time of their conversion. This inner
peace is, of course, brought on by the Holy Spirit and it is up to the mature
Christians to help this new babe in Christ learn of his or her new-found
faith.
The Bible
gives us many examples of how this is
done; here are a few:
U “So
when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two
days. And many more believed because of
his own word;” John
U “And
they continued stedfastly in the
apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts
U “And
said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in
the sight of God. …..Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts
10 Peter
U “…the
Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied….. And he
went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months” Acts 19
Paul
It is a
wonderful privilege to speak to others about Jesus Christ but it is our duty to
ensure that these new believers are well taught in the doctrine of the
Lord. I believe that if the Lord truly
saves someone, He will ensure that this person gets the proper attention. Of my own personal experience, the person who
brought me to the Lord, travelled a good distance and made sure that I found a
Bible-believing church in my area.
