(Election and Predestination)
Predestination is a doctrine that the Church has had
difficulties with because it is “unfair” that some people are chosen by God and
some are not. Like we’
re supposed to understand the will of God. The psalmist says it perfectly
:“ These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou
thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove
thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.” (Psalm 50:21b). How can
sinful human beings possible understand God’s divine justice? Here is a verse that is so clear, I cannot
imagine how someone could believe that God is unfair; this verse is - “According
as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should
be holy and without blame before him in love:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to
himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,” . (Ephesians
1:4, 5). God chooses whom He
wants; it’s a simple as that! Here is
another verse :
“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren
beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to
salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth”
(2 Thessalonians 2:13).
How can it be clearer than that?
I don’t know why God is so madly in love with me; I’m just happy that He
is. I know that I am imperfect and He is
perfect; I know that I am unholy and He is 3 times Holy
but do you know what? I was made
perfect and holy through His Son Jesus Christ.
I thank Him every day for this privilege.
