“Those who have discovered that
the key to interpreting God’s Word properly is to understand it in a normal and
literal way will also discover that Ezekiel 40 to 48 is not a burden to the
Bible student but a delight” (Dr John C
Whitcomb). In our study, we will only be
able to see only a few verses of these amazing chapters regarding a physical
temple during the 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ on earth. I encourage you to
read them. These chapters describe a
place of worship that will be for the Jews during the Millennium reign of
Christ but there will be no Ark of the Covenant, no Table of the Law, no Cherubim,
no Mercy Seat, no Veil, no Golden Candlestick or Table of Showbread (Things To Come by D. Pentecost pgs 520 to
524) (See study # 216)
The important thing to consider is that
the glory of Jehovah will fill this temple (Ezek 43:5) and the city will be
renamed on the basis that Jehovah is there (48:35). There will be animal sacrifices during the Millennium
period but they will in no way justify the Jews for salvation – as in the Old
Testament, faith was the only way to be saved by the grace of God. We have already looked at the concept of
animal sacrifices during the Great Tribulation Period (see study 216) and the
same rules will apply here.
